Which Type of Pallet Racking is Best for Different Operations?

Not sure which type of racking would be best for your operation? Here’s your guide to rack for the two of the primary types of operations– and how to choose what is best:

FIFO – First In, First Out

Do you sell or store items that must be rotated for freshness? This might include consumables – like food, drugs, cosmetics, etc. Your operation probably stores items, in a first in, first out system – also known as FIFO.

Rack systems like pallet flow or single deep selective racking are best for those operations that need to keep stock rotated. They make it easy to access the first product you place into storage, making them valuable to your operation.

LIFO – Last In, First Out

With the above specifications in mind, you might be wondering why anyone would choose a LIFO – last in, first out – storage rack option.

The truth is, this type of rack is perfect for many applications, including many warehouse and storage solutions.

If this is how your operations works, you might be best suited to solutions like drive-in push back pallet rack. These types of pallet racking will allow you to sacrifice some selectivity for extra storage density.
